Lynn Selzer
Ms. Selzer has 17 years of experience in international business and tax, business law, finance, manufacturing, and wholesale distribution. At Ariel Ventures, Ms. Selzer provides NMTC consulting and compliance services, including deal structuring, financial and cash flow modeling, accounting, policies and procedures, and IRS, CDFI, Investor compliance and reporting. She also provides international business and tax consulting services, including global transfer pricing.
Prior to joining Ariel Ventures, Ms. Selzer provided international tax consulting services as a Managing Director at KPMG LLP. During her 13 years at KPMG, Ms. Selzer performed complex analyses applying tax laws to optimize financial results while complying with US and international tax laws. Her responsibilities included keeping her practice current on changing US and international tax laws and interpretations; preparing financial and economic analyses and compliance reports; assisting clients in understanding, qualifying for, quantifying, and documenting tax credits and other tax incentives; representing clients in complex negotiations with the IRS; and providing ongoing tax consulting and financial audit assistance for clients in many industries. She was a member of the firm’s elite “Quality Review Process” team, which sets and monitors quality standards; her unique role on this team was to field all worldwide questions regarding the interpretation and operation of the US tax laws pertinent to inter-company transactions.
At KPMG she also designed and implemented strategies to optimize worldwide effective tax rate, including multinational restructuring, cross-border financing, intangible migration, transfer pricing strategies, export tax incentives, etc. She managed tax audits focusing on transfer pricing and other international tax issues, including negotiation of Advance Pricing Agreements between multinational corporations and the US Internal Revenue Service, and compiled transfer pricing documentation in compliance with US and foreign requirements.
She was also nationally recognized as a leader in the firm’s community volunteer initiatives, and continues to serve as an officer on four nonprofit boards. She is the Vice Chair of Cleveland Reads, Treasurer of Women in International Trade – Northeast Ohio, Secretary of the India-Ohio Chamber of Commerce, and Secretary/Treasurer of Ray of Light International, a charity she co-founded in 1997, to provide food, clothing, shelter, medicine and education for destitute women, children and the aged, with a focus on third world countries.
Ms. Selzer is a licensed Ohio attorney and CPA. She holds a JD and MBA from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of General Studies from Kent State University.

- Assisted $14B foreign-based multinational with reorganization, refinancing, and intellectual property restructuring involving US, Swedish, Canadian, and Australian entities to reduce worldwide corporate tax rate.
- Assisted $6B US-based multinational in restructuring high-technology business to optimize worldwide tax rate on intangible profits.
- Assisted $12B Japanese automotive company in resolving multilateral tax issues, including IRS audit focused on transfer pricing ($60M proposed adjustment) and bilateral and unilateral advance pricing agreements (APAs).
- Provided assistance in integrating multinational groups after acquisitions, including transfer pricing strategy, restructure of intellectual property ownership, avoiding US taxation of foreign income, and repatriation strategies.
- Advised on the optimization of US tax incentives such as ETI and DISC, and advised on replacement strategies for phased-out tax incentives such as the possession tax credit.
